If you’re a Realtor, you already know the importance of real estate marketing. But did you know that personal branding can play a huge role in the success of your marketing strategy?

Here are 5 tips for creating a personal brand to set yourself apart as a real estate professional.

Real estate agents: Want to know how to market yourself in this quickly changing market? My quick tips for real estate marketing will give you three tips for standing out in a crowd — including how to create consistency and trust, level up your visual branding, and schedule a personal brand photography session (or two) that works for you! #personalbranding #realtor #realestatemarketing #branding

Real Estate Marketing Tip #1: Consistency + Trust

One of the most important things you can do is show up consistently and show up often. This is the very best way to build trust, and it takes time.

When potential clients see you showing up again and again, with consistent messaging, you’ll begin to set yourself apart as the industry expert and build trust.

The number of people with their real estate license is increasing for sure, but how many of those with their licenses are spending the time (and money) to brand themselves, show up on social media, and stay in it for the long haul? When you put in the effort and make a commitment to stay with it, you’ve already set yourself apart from the majority of Realtors.

The truth is, people work with people they know, like, and trust. So your goal with your messaging is to establish yourself as the expert, show people you’re not going anywhere, and build relationships so that when someone is ready to buy or sell, you’re the first person they think of!

Marketing Tips for Realtors #2: Creating a Visual Brand

When you’re establishing a personal brand, it’s important to decide what sets you apart and focus your messaging on the things you stand for and want people to know. Once you know your values and messaging, your visual brand will create consistency, draw attention to your message, and stop the scroll.

You’ll know you’ve achieved a strong visual brand when people tell you they knew a social media post was yours before they even read your message!

Here are a few pointers for creating a strong visual brand:

  • Choose a consistent color palette of two to three main colors that play well together. (If you’re working with a graphic designer, they might also suggest a secondary color palette that can be used in your branding.)
  • Use these colors in your logo, on your website, in your social media graphics, and in the outfits you wear for meetings and photos.
  • Choose no more than two fonts that you use consistently.
  • Use a social media planner for visual content so you can curate your brand photos and make sure your images look their best!

Real Estate Marketing Tip #3: Personal Brand Photography for the Win!

Once you’ve established your visual brand, the best way to make your your social media consistent and personal is to schedule a personal brand photography session with a professional photographer.

Trust me — this is one of those investments that will set you apart from real estate agents who post photos they took with their phone.

When your graphics and photography are designed by professionals, you’ll immediately gain credibility as someone who is professional, experienced, and committed. (After all, if you cut corners on your marketing, how does the client know you won’t do the same on their transaction?)

A professional photographer can help you create compelling visual imagery that is brand-specific and catered specifically to your messaging. No more using stock photos that may or may not match your brand (and besides, everyone else is using them too). When you hire a professional photographer, you’ll have your own library of images that are unique to your brand!

Here are my thoughts about how to build a brand photo library that works for you:

  • Develop a relationship with a professional photographer. Not only does this ensure consistency in your photos, but you’ll build trust and your photographer will start to know you and what kinds of images best represent your brand.
  • Shoot regularly. Schedule a session every year, every six months, or even quarterly if you can make it work for your budget. New content is
  • Build your brand photo library over time. If you get 2-4 months of content from one brand session, you can gradually build your library so you have multiple seasons and types of photos to choose from.
  • A personal brand photo library works for you even when you’re not working! Relaxing on a beach vacation? You can still post professional photos during your time away so your clients feel you’re there for them.
  • Finally, one of my favorite real estate marketing tips of all: Grab a few of your friends either in or out of the industry and split the cost of my full personal brand photo session! Hire a hair and makeup artist, grab a few fabulous new outfits from Rent the Runway, and pop the bubbly! Then sit back and let me do the rest. In the end, you and each of your friends will have a mini brand photo library to keep your social media content fresh and compelling!

So what are you waiting for? Schedule your first brand photography session right now. A year from now, you’ll have a whole library of personal brand imagery that is consistent, brand specific, and uniquely yours!
