Texas Couple’s Colorado Destination Wedding

Ashley and Eric, along with their family and friends, flew all the way from Texas to have the most magical Colorado destination wedding. Every minute of their wedding was a dream to photograph! But I have to tell you a secret: One of the things I loved most about working with Ashley and Eric was all of the time I had beforehand getting to know them!

Last spring, Ashley and Eric flew me to Texas for their San Antonio engagement session (quite possibly the hottest e-sesh I’ve ever shot, but these two were cool as cucumbers and posed like pros!). Then we had a snowy Rocky Mountain National Park + Trail Ridge Road adventure when they came to Colorado to handle a few last-minute wedding planning details.

Afterward, they invited me to dinner, and I had even more time to get to know them, to hear more about their sweet families, their passions, and so many things that makes them so special and unique as a couple. I am not kidding when I say I could hang with these two every Saturday night!!

Perfect Estes Park Wedding Day

Fast forward to May, when Ashley and Eric headed to Colorado for their Estes Park wedding. When they checked in to Black Canyon Inn, there was still snow on the ground from a recent snowstorm. But in true Colorado fashion, a day of sunshine melted the snow, and their wedding day couldn’t have been more beautiful!

I asked Eric and Ashley what they most wanted to remember about their wedding day ten years from now.

Eric said he would always remember their First Look. He was so full of excitement to see his bride, and spending those extra few minutes with Ashley alone before the ceremony is something he will never forget.

Ashley will always remember their first dance, because their song, Future Days by Pearl Jam, has always meant so much to them. They both knew for a long time that they’d be dancing to that song at their reception!

Ashley also surprised Eric with some time alone at the end of the night. After everyone went outside to form a line to their getaway car, the DJ put on a special song so the two of them could share one last dance before leaving one their honeymoon.

Of all the beautiful details of the day, the most important one to Eric was his grandmother’s bracelet. Ashley found it the week before the wedding and shined it up to wear on their most special day.

Having their friends and family together with them in such a magical place was truly what made Ashley’s wedding dreams come true! This day was everything she had hoped for and more.

For their honeymoon, Ashley and Eric rented an RV and camped throughout Utah with their dogs! They visited four national parks — Arches National Park, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park.

And as fun as wedding planning was, Ashley and Eric have enjoyed their summer as newlyweds doing all the non-wedding things. From hanging up televisions, to decorating their home, to spending time with family and friends, all of these newlywed things have made 2019 a year to remember!
